Constant change and a tiny step.

Finally a breathing space, realization during these period is that changes are constant , changes never change.  Little steps taken for a healthy environment can also make a better difference. Milk packets:          Recently I came across few articles and posts , that opening the milk packets without cutting off the tip  and just having a slit without separating  the small piece can reduce the number of small plastics entering the soil which never gets decomposed. Karnataka has encouraged citizens in this method. This can be used in any plastic covers we use in our day to day lives.           I hope we could implement this small step.            Comment on if you got any more ideas

Pandemic and Waste management

Single-use plastics pollution has been increased incredibly during this pandemic. Face masks and PPE kits can be seen everywhere, thrown carelessly on the streets, landfills, rivers, lakes, oceans. We have read so much about microplastic pollution. The rise in single-use plastics disposals related to pandemic products carries the threats of an increase in microplastics which could infest inland water systems, and oceans affecting the lives of all ecosystems. These single-use plastics are not just plastics but contaminants that reach everywhere. All life forms and eco-system are at high risk of pollution while battling the pandemic.

Articles reveal, even at the beginning of the pandemic China started producing more than 40 tons of pandemic-related wastes including medical wastes each day. Do you know that mandatory incineration of PPE and other infected wastes has been declared by WHO.  Our face masks that we use and throw are supposed to be incinerated. The need for bioplastics is at its peak.

Along with the pandemic, climate change, economy, and pollution the world is also facing a waste management crisis. A personal disciple is highly recommended for very conscious waste disposal, the paper concludes.
